Kool-Aid Playdoh

Today we crossed another thing off our Summer Fun List

* Koolaid Playdoh *

For this you'll need the following:

Two packets of KoolAid any flavor
1 1/3 cups flour
1/4 cup salt
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup boiling water
1 1/2 tbsp Oil

Start off by putting a pot of water to boil.

Than get enough bowls for each KoolAid flavor/ color.
Stir together all the dry ingredients
(Both packets of KoolAid, Flour, Salt, & Cream of Tarter)

Add the boiling water and oil  to the dry ingredients and
watch the color and scent Pop !!

Watch the little ones with the hot water!!!

Once all the ingredients are mixed together and its cool enough to touch, empty it onto the counter and knead away, mixing in flour as you go,
until the Play doh is no longer sticky

(This is how it looks all mixed together, before kneading)

And here it's all kneaded together.

(Caution this can get very messy with little ones )

I was able to knead three of the play-doh's while the boys worked on their dough.
Its tough having little hands to work with !!
Our favorite turned out to be the Grape (Purple) and Cherry (Red).
They turned out to have the most color and smelled Yummy !!!

After the play doh was all set it was Cookie Cutter time.

Summer Fun List: Potato Stamping

Holy Cow Batman !!!

Its been almost four months since I've been on here.
Time sure flies in the Blog world when you have tons of house projects going on and remodeling a kitchen/ dining room  !

We've been on summer Break for just about two weeks now and have been busy, busy. Today has been the first day that we've spent the entire day home.
And we've also crossed three things off our Summer Fun List !

Including potato stamping, which the boys thought was awesome
Painting + food = tons of fun for little men

(As you can see in the background, we're still in remodel mode, hoping to be able to show off the before and after pictures in 3-4ish weeks )

Perfect Chocolate'y Summer Dessert

Doesn't this look super yummy. . . Boy was it !!!
Super easy to boot.

Start off by making your brownies according to the directions on the box.
I made two versions this day so that will explain the picture switching from the brownie to the chocolate chip cookie :)
I also made a giant chocolate chip cookie, using an 8x8 pan. Here's the cookie already cooled and flipped onto a cutting board. Next use a loaf pan to measure where to cut your brownie.
Here's the brownie all cut up, and yes I cut off the edges. :)
And the chocolate chip cookie, again I cut off the edges, but this is just our preference.
Next, line your loaf pan with wrap, completely covering the pan.
After the pan is all wrapped up, drop one of the cookie pieces in. Next put in some vanilla ice cream, it really helps if you let the ice cream soften a tad, so you can spread it out on top of the cookie or brownie. After the ice cream is all spread out, put another brownie/ cookie on top. Finally spread out another layer of ice cream . . Fold over the wrap, making sure its nice and sealed. Use another pan to push down a tad. And place in the freezer, normally I leave in for at least two-three hours but this dessert is easy enough to make a day or two ahead of time. After a few hours slice off a piece, drizzle a little chocolate, a dollop of whip cream and ENJOY !!

Do You Have a Summer List ? ?

Happy Wednesday Everyone !!!

Sorry I've been MIA, Hubby had some time off work so we've been car shopping and yesterday we finally found one !! A Chevy Uplander. I love, love, love it. I love all the bells and whistles . . Dual Doors, how on earth did I live so long without them ! Enough about the mini van . . . Summer is well under way, and in full force here in Tucson, Az . . its been 100+ all week - Yuck! -

So with Summer here what are you planning to keep your little ones busy and the 'I'm boreds' away ? ? Here in the Harper household I came up with a Summer to-do-list.

75 Fun and Entertaining Bordem Busters.

Of course, 75 may seem like a lot but a ton of these are fairly simple things ie: baking cupcakes, color, noodle necklace etc.

Do you have a Summer to do list ? ?

I would love to see it .

Summer Calendar

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.

Quick Side note: If your a follower in AZ I pray that your nowhere near the devastating fires and if you are or know someone who is, my prayers are with you and your family.

Such a sad site to watch every night on the news.

On to the project. . . So two things happened with this 'little' project here.

#1 I highly underestimated how big/ long of a project it was and #2 I messed up my little 'date' stars big time which = to even more time.

*Oh and sorry ahead of time for the crappy pictures, I decided to hang it right in my laundry room area and no natural light shines in there so hence the blah pictures.

But here she is . .

I started out want to come up with an idea to display all the fun stuff I had planned for the boys during the summer, initially my idea was just to come up with something small to hang on our fridge but nothing I could think of 'worked'. So last week when I was spring cleaning, I came across this huge piece of sheet metal (2.5 ft by 3 ft) and off went my crafty light bulb.

I used my Cricut to cut out the days of the week with vinyl and used strips of vinyl to make my calendar grid.

Next problem was how to display the numbers for the days. . I first I wanted to used bottle caps but we don't drink anything with bottle caps and I didn't really want to wait to 'collect' them . . I'm not a sit-and-wait- patiently kind of girl. So off to Joann's I went, where I found these adorable little wood stars for $4.29 (plus a 40% off coupon) and even better than came in a pack of 30 . . score ! I attached a magnet to the back and mod podge the number on the front.

So what happened to the stars you ask ... well I tried to use mod podge dimensional and I've never used this stuff before and now was not the time to test it out, especially since I didn't have any extra stars to spare (pack of 30 remember ??) Well, I obviously need a lesson in how to use this stuff because I ruined 10 of my stars big time.. again I need a lesson because I don't know if I used to much or to little but they dried all bubbly and had air holes, bottom line they looked horrible. . . Back to Joann's I went for another Star pack, this time only mod podging! While I was at Joanns I hunted around for something to use to represent whatever I had planned for our summer days. I found exactly what I was looking for in the wood craft aisle, There were tons of already made little wood pieces and than right next to those were raw -wood squares, circles, ovals, stars etc.

First thing I grabbed was the Elephant perfect to represent our trips to the Zoo,I grabbed a few more already made ones but for the most part ended up grabbing a bunch of the raw wood shapes and painted them once I got home, while I was waiting for them to dry, I wrote down a list of some things I had planned, picked and choose which ones to make magnets for. Used the Cricut to cut out simple words and mod podge them onto the painted wood pieces of the already made ones.

Below are pictures of all the magnets I ended up with . . I even made some to represent the events we attend with our play group, Meetup Moms of Tucson. (A rubber duck is our mascot)
I loved how it turned out and the boys love checking it out for our 'fun for the day' as Taelor calls it . . I love all the magnets and cant wait to make more for future holidays and other events.
Happy Crafting !!

Personalized Easter Pails - Great for Summer too

Hi Everyone ! !
Once again I 'disappeared' but yet again I have an excuse, if your a personal friend of mine than you know the whole story thanks to facebook but I spent the past weekend driving back and forth to the hospital and spending long hours there. . . Short version my sister went into the E.R. Thursday morning for severe chest and stomach pains, after some test and ultrasounds they decided to remove her gallbladder. So she spent the entire weekend in the hospital, and we spent it traveling back and forth.

Needless to say the women in my life, there are only two but they keep my life interesting.

However I was able to fit in some time to make these personalized Easter pails for my little men and my two nephews and niece. I was actually very Happy with how well they came out and everyone loved them. I also color coordinated everything that went into the buckets . . . yellow bucket = yellow loot inside . . orange bucket= orange loot inside . . . you get the idea :)

These would also be really cute for a summer birthday party or to fill with goodies and give to the birthday kid.
